Position: Registered Nurse - ONA
Hours of Work: Part Time
Location: WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital, KW Campus)
Position Summary : This position reports to the Manager – of Ambulatory Care, Adult Diabetes Education Centre (ADEC). The successful candidate will provide effective patient focused diabetes education and clinical monitoring within the outpatient and setting. In addition, the successful candidate will provide educational support to admitted patients who require diabetes education.
Position Requirements:
- Baccalaureate preparation in nursing preferred
- Current Certification of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Certification as a Diabetes Educator required.
- Experience with insulin pump management required.
- Minimum five years recent experience in diabetes management and education including knowledge of theoretical principles of adult learning and change theory.
- Demonstrated skills in facilitating groups, team skills and effective communication.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Effective organizational, conceptual and leadership skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills and ability to mentor, coach and act as a resource to the inpatient units for care of the patient with diabetes.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Good attendance record.
