Are you ready to join a dedicated team and work in the great outdoors? Hopcott Farms is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Farm Hand Laborer to support our daily operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about farming, contribute to a thriving family business, and enjoy the satisfaction of hands-on work.
Position Purpose: To contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the farm by supporting daily operations while maintaining high standards of productivity, safety, and care for both crops and animals.
The successful candidate must be available Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with flexibility to work alternating weekend shifts as needed.
The Farm Hand/Labourer’s Responsibilities Include:
Crop Production & Land Care
- Assist with planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting a variety of crops.
- Monitor crops and report any issues to supervisors.
Livestock Care
- Feed, water, and care for animals, with training provided for cattle handling.
- Observe animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns promptly.
Abattoir Support
- Work safely and comfortably in gritty or challenging conditions.
- Assist with composting waste, preparing materials for transport, and cleaning pens.
- Pump and prepare blood for transport.
Farm Maintenance & Manual Labour
- Help with repairs, fencing, irrigation upkeep, and general farm upkeep.
- Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, digging, shoveling, and loading/unloading supplies.
Equipment & Deliveries
- Operate farm tools and machinery under supervision, with training provided.
- Make deliveries using company vehicles while following safety procedures.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow farm safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment for yourself and others.
Working Conditions & Physical Environment:
Environment & Physical Demands
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and gritty or dirty environments.
- Perform physically demanding tasks that require stamina, strength, and focus.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs safely and repeatedly.
- Stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
- Handle active livestock and operate machinery safely, following all safety procedures.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience & Knowledge (Asset, Not Required)
- Previous farming or agricultural experience, including experience working with cattle (feeding and general care).
- Experience operating and maintaining basic farm machinery and tools.
- Basic knowledge of animal care and crop cultivation is an asset.

- Passion for agriculture and outdoor, hands-on work.
Teamwork & Communication

Practical Requirements
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Forklift Certification.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

- Farming: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Forklift Licence (preferred)

Work Location: In person
