Working under the supervision of the Support Services Manager, the Laundry Aide is responsible for washing, cleaning, residents' personal clothing and institutional laundry using non domestic machines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Sorts, soaks, washes and dries linens and residents' clothes using non domestic machines.
2. Washes and dries blankets according to procedures.
3. Labels residents' personal clothing.
4. Folds, stacks, hangs and delivers laundry and clothes.
5. Removes damaged linen from service.
6. Maintains the laundry department in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
7. Keeps sufficient supply of linen on floors and in storage area.
8. Maintains a current count and record of linen and supplies for control purposes.
9. Attends in-service education classes and staff meetings as required.
10. Uses proper lifting techniques and safety procedures while performing all duties.
11. Follows WHIMIS guidelines when handling chemicals.
12. Notifies Support Services Manager of any machine malfunctions
13. Maintains current knowledge of and complies with all company policies and procedures including protocol for infection control and resident safety.
14. Required to use various electronic devices in your work.
15. Performs all other related duties as required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
· Grade 10 plus one year’s recent related experience in a commercial or industrial laundry or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
· Must have WHMIS certification (within the last year)

Pay: $26.80 per hour
