Maintenance Worker
Fairhaven LTC, established in 1960, is a 256-bed long-term care home dedicated to providing high-quality and compassionate care to residents. SUMMARY
We are seeking a Maintenance Person to join our team at Fairhaven LTC in a full-time, permanent Maintenance Worker Position. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and safety of our facility, contributing to the overall well-being of our residents. Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining our high standards of care. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for completing tasks as assigned by the Manager of Environmental Services which includes emergency and preventative maintenance of the building including: HVAC, plumbing, alarm and mechanical systems, grounds keeping, furnishings, resident care equipment and plant equipment, and other assigned environmental services operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Complete minor repairs and painting of all exterior and interior areas as assigned.
-Complete minor repairs to resident equipment as assigned.
-Complete minor plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs as assigned.
-Coordinate and maintains shipping and receiving area, including delivery of receivables to department storerooms.
-Maintain the grounds as assigned by the Supervisor to include general clean up, snow removal, and some lawn care responsibilities.
-Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
-Complete audits as assigned
-Complete work orders as assigned in a timely manner.
-Assist other departments in the movement of furniture and heavy equipment as required.
-Take/record environmental temperatures as per standard protocols and/or as required.
-Provide technical support and advice regarding work procedures and purchasing or repair requirements.
-Test emergency power generators as specified by the manufacturer, and at least monthly, record results.
-Stock maintenance supplies and parts needed to accomplish duties.
-Respond in accordance with the Emergency Preparedness Plan.
-Observe safety regulations, practices and codes, maintain a safe work environment
-Maintain maintenance shop on a daily basis, ensuring it is clean and uncluttered.
-Clean and take ownership of all equipment used during the shift.
-Maintain a positive and harmonious relationship with all members of the Fairhaven community.
-Attend all staff meetings and educational sessions as required
- Complete mandatory educations as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· Requires a post-secondary education in Building Services Engineering or Trade certificate(s) OR relevant experience
· Minimum 2 years of building and grounds maintenance or relevant experience.
· Familiar with power tools, levels, squares, and units of measurement.
· Three (3) years proven experience indoor and outdoor painting with focus on commercial and drywall experience. Familiar with mudding, taping, painting and drywall repair.
· Ability to follow directions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
· Assertive team player with a positive attitude, effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
· Ability to complete minor plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs.
· Basic computer skills, familiar with windows-based programs
· Ability to solve problems and demonstrate critical thinking.
· Ability to communicate clearly (verbal, electronical, and written)
· Ability to lift 50 lbs
