Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Enhancement & Sustainment Projects, the Development Engineer supports front-end project development and asset optimization across Kingston’s operations. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, this role identifies and evaluates opportunities, develops business cases, and helps optimize capital investment decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who brings strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach, and who can use technical, risk, and economic analysis to support practical decisions in a regulated environment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be based out of our Calgary, Alberta office or Estevan, Saskatchewan office.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop business cases that support project prioritization, resource allocation, and capital deployment.
- Develop and manage short- to medium-term asset program plans.
- Identify opportunities, assess alternatives, and prepare high-level cost estimates and schedules.
- Lead non-complex projects through definition, implementation, and closeout.
- Prepare and present materials for management, executive, and Board review and approval.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily office-based, with field travel required on a quarterly basis.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer designation in Canada.
- 5–10 years of project management and asset development experience in facility and pipeline operations.
- Asset and system planning experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of CSA Z662, CER, and Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba pipeline regulations.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in data analysis and economic evaluation.
- Experience in risk management, risk analysis, and root-cause analysis is an asset.
- Lean Six Sigma or other optimization experience is an asset.
