About the opportunity:
Based in Greater Vancouver area, this independent contractor opportunity is focused on originating commercial mortgages throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
The selected contractor will be granted dedicated access to Gentai Capital Corporation funds and capital from syndication partners to drive the expansion of our non-prime commercial mortgage business through proactive business development, relationship management, and mortgage origination activities.

The selected contractor will leverage their commercial mortgage expertise, outstanding communication skills, regulatory compliance knowledge, and sound credit underwriting judgment to originate non-banking commercial real estate deals.
Scope of Services:
- Leverage networks and resources to source new business opportunities for Gentai’s full range of commercial lending options.
- Apply financial analysis skills to evaluate and determine optimal lending options for prospective borrowers.
- Develop needs-based solutions, present formal proposals and negotiate with borrowers to effectively satisfy their needs within Gentai objectives.
- Collaborate with teammates to complete mortgage presentations by analyzing, assessing and preparing relevant market and borrower profiles.
- Execute the closing of each deal via direct professional communication with borrowers and other funding resources.
- Research, track market changes and competitive activity, sharing insights with Gentai’s team to maintain expert-level industry knowledge to better serve clients.
- Execute the origination and contract negotiations of new mortgage loans for the various funds and investors represented by Gentai.
- Manage loan opportunities handed over by EVP, Lending and President of Gentai, including but not limited to reaching out to the borrowers, structuring the loan, negotiating the deal with the borrowers, presenting the offer to the borrowers and follow through the funding process to fund the loan.
- Collaborate as required, in the due diligence, documentation and closing of new mortgage loans and renewals.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of commercial mortgage lending experience, including significant experience in theCanadian market and within non-bank, alternative lending, or Mortgage Investment Corporation (MIC) sectors.
- Demonstrated sound credit judgement within the Canadian commercial lending environment.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and commercial credit analysis.
- Ability to identify and recommend alternative financing solutions based on product availability and borrower needs.
Licensing & Education
- Active mortgage broker license is in good standing.
- Postgraduate degree in finance, economics, urban land development, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Strong relationship management and business development experience.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to structure flexible financing solutions for borrowers.
- Strategic negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to navigate complex transactions, resolve issues effectively, and develop practical financing solutions.
Communication & Presentation Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups.
- Experience preparing and delivering business presentations and speaking in professional settings.

Pay: $100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
