Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team, providing inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair services for a wide range of heavy machinery and support equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting experience, and the ability to work safely and effectively in demanding environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, electrical systems, and heavy-duty equipment to ensure equipment reliability and operational readiness. Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, and other heavy equipment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and agricultural equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Assemble, disassemble, and repair equipment components while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Test and operate heavy equipment to verify repairs, diagnose issues, and ensure proper functionality.
- Complete accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and service documentation in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and commissioning activities as required.
- Follow safe work procedures and properly utilize lifting, rigging, and material handling equipment during maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance teams, operators, and supervisors to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Communicate maintenance findings, repair recommendations, and equipment status clearly and professionally when required.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification required.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and heavy-duty equipment maintenance.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, construction, and agricultural machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and service documentation.
- Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physically capable of performing demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Valid driver’s license required; Class 1 or air brake endorsement considered an asset.
- Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Previous military, industrial, mining, or field service experience considered an asset.
Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
