We are looking for dependable, detail-oriented individuals to join our team in a hybrid production and installation role. This position combines manufacturing custom window coverings in our production facility with independently installing finished products at customer locations using a company vehicle. Full training is provided for motivated candidates who are eager to build a long-term career in the window covering industry.
Position Summary
As a Blind and Shade Assembler & Installer, you will split your time between manufacturing custom window coverings in our production facility and completing professional installations at residential and commercial customer sites. You will assemble products to precise specifications, prepare them for delivery, and independently drive a company vehicle to install finished products safely and professionally. This role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, excellent workmanship, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture custom blinds, shades, and window coverings according to work orders and production specifications.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and package products using fabric, aluminum, steel, wood, plastic, and other materials.
- Safely operate production equipment, including cutting machines, presses, staplers, saws, and other assembly tools.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet company quality standards for dimensions, appearance, functionality, and workmanship.
- Identify production defects or quality concerns and report or correct them promptly.
- Prepare completed products for shipment and installation.
- Independently drive a company vehicle to residential and commercial customer locations to perform scheduled installations.
- Install a variety of custom window coverings accurately, safely, and professionally using ladders, hand tools, and installation equipment.
- Verify measurements, make minor on-site adjustments when necessary, and ensure proper product operation before completing each installation.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service while representing Allure Shade Systems Inc. at customer locations.
- Load and unload materials, maintain installation equipment, and ensure the company vehicle is kept clean and organized.
- Maintain an organized work area and assist with inventory replenishment, shipping, receiving, and general production housekeeping.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including safe driving practices and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules, installation appointments, and customer deadlines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining high standards of productivity, safety, and workmanship.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence (mandatory) with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable driving a company vehicle independently to customer locations.
- Previous manufacturing, assembly, construction, or installation experience is an asset but not required.
- Experience installing blinds, shades, shutters, or other window coverings is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to accurately read measurements and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new manufacturing processes, installation techniques, and equipment.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lb (23 kg).
- Perform repetitive assembly tasks using hands and arms.
- Bend, reach, twist, kneel, and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Safely climb and work on ladders up to approximately 20 feet when completing installations.
- Load and unload products and installation equipment from company vehicles.
- Safely operate manufacturing equipment while following established procedures.
Schedule
Monday to Friday
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Occasional overtime may be available during busy production or installation periods.
Compensation
Starting wage: $19.00 per hour
Following successful training and demonstrated proficiency in both manufacturing and installation responsibilities, compensation typically increases to $20.00–$23.00 per hour, based on performance, skills, and experience.
