Job description
We are looking for an intermediate Construction Estimator to prepare estimates on civil, architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical construction projects primarily focussed on industrial and municipal sectors in Ontario. Once hired, you will be working from our Newmarket Office located at 18075 Leslie Street-Unit 210, Newmarket.
Under this role, you'll be completing construction estimates for industrial and municipal projects in which we perform the duties of either General Contractor or Design-Build Contractor who self-performs all civil works and sub-contract out architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical components. This Construction Estimator role requires an experienced candidate with minimum of 10 years of experience in performing these duties in Ontario. We will require you to provide three referrals as part of the interview process.
Essential Functions
- Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
- Advise on sub-trade tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations
- Establish and maintain sub-trade tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as professional and industry-specific standards and regulations.
- Other relevant duties as required to support organization-wide needs.
