Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Neurological Physiotherapist to join our growing home-based rehabilitation team. In this role, you will provide specialized neurological physiotherapy services in clients’ homes, helping individuals maximize their independence, mobility, function, and quality of life. You will assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans for adults living with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, vestibular disorders, and other complex neurological diagnoses.
This position is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about neurological rehabilitation, values one-on-one patient-centred care, and enjoys working collaboratively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals within the community.
Duties
- Complete comprehensive neurological physiotherapy assessments in clients’ homes and develop individualized treatment plans based on each client’s goals.
- Deliver evidence-based neurological rehabilitation interventions, including gait training, balance training, functional mobility, task-specific practice, strength and endurance training, and manual therapy when appropriate.
- Assess and prescribe mobility aids and recommend equipment to improve safety, independence, and participation in daily activities.
- Provide education to clients, families, and caregivers regarding home exercise programs, fall prevention, mobility strategies, and long-term self-management.
- Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans to optimize functional outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, personal support workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in neurological rehabilitation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited program.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle, with the ability to travel to clients’ homes throughout the community.
- Demonstrated experience treating adults with neurological conditions in inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, or community settings.
- Post-graduate training in neurological rehabilitation is required, including Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), Bobath-based training, or equivalent advanced neurological rehabilitation education.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and treatment planning skills specific to neurological physiotherapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build meaningful therapeutic relationships.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
