Assembly Lead Coordinator

Why this role exists
This is a hands on production and coordination role within a fast paced Office Furniture manufacturing environment. You will work directly on the floor while supporting workflow between CNC, prep, and assembly to ensure orders move accurately, efficiently, and on time.
The role combines active assembly work with coordination responsibilities to keep production sequenced properly and resolve issues before they impact delivery.
This is not a supervisory role, but you will be a key support point for the Production Supervisor and the floor team.
What you will do
- Work directly in assembly while supporting daily production output
- Provide informal leadership and day to day guidance to the team on the floor
- Coordinate sequencing of work between CNC, prep, and assembly to ensure smooth workflow
- Review assembly sheets and blueprints to identify Bill of Materials (BOM) required for each order
- Work closely with CNC operations to identify and communicate missing parts, defects, or quality issues
- Track production flow using scheduling tools such as Gantt charts to support timelines and order accuracy
- Ensure issues are flagged early to prevent delays, rework, or production bottlenecks
- Support cross training across multiple assembly stations
- Ensure clear communication between departments to maintain workflow continuity
- Identify product defects, quality issues, or equipment concerns and escalate appropriately
- Ensure all assembled products meet company quality and safety standards
- Assist with manual and automated tools and equipment as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all health and safety procedures including PPE compliance
What you bring
- 2+ years experience in manufacturing, assembly, CNC, fabrication, or production environments
- Previous experience in a lead hand, senior operator, or informal coordination role
- Ability to read blueprints, assembly drawings, and interpret BOM requirements
- Familiarity with production scheduling tools such as Gantt charts
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fast paced environments
- Comfortable working in a hands on, active production setting
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs when required
- Strong communication skills and a team focused mindset
- Willingness to support overtime when required
Work environment
- Afternoon shift, full time active production role (approx. 8 hours per shift)
- Manufacturing floor environment with standard safety requirements
- Frequent coordination between CNC, prep, and assembly areas
- PPE required at all times
- Occasional lifting and material handling
Who succeeds here
Strong performers typically come from CNC machining, fabrication, or assembly environments where they’ve worked from blueprints and assembly drawings to interpret BOM requirements and keep production moving accurately.
They are comfortable moving between CNC output and final assembly, identifying missing parts, defects, or quality issues early, and communicating them clearly to prevent delays.
They naturally take ownership of sequencing work between prep and assembly, helping ensure jobs flow smoothly through each stage without bottlenecks or rework.
Best fit candidates are hands on, detail focused, and calm under pressure, with a strong understanding of how machining output connects directly to assembly quality and delivery timelines.
