Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Class 1 Driver to join our transportation team. As a Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for operating commercial vehicles to transport freight, equipment, and passengers safely and efficiently across various routes. Duties
- Operate a range of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, box trucks, and tankers with precision and adherence to safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual handling techniques as needed, ensuring proper securing of cargo for transit.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Plan routes efficiently for timely deliveries while maintaining communication with dispatch teams regarding schedules or delays.
- Safely shuttle goods between warehouses, distribution centers, customer sites, and other designated locations while complying with traffic laws.
- Assist in heavy haul operations or heavy equipment transport when required, demonstrating versatility across different vehicle types.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and management to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols related to commercial vehicle operation, including adherence to hours-of-service regulations and load securement standards.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a focus on route driving, freight delivery, or shuttle driving in various vehicle types such as tractor-trailers or box trucks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems related to heavy trucks and trailers; ability to perform basic troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Prior warehouse experience or familiarity with loading/unloading procedures enhances operational efficiency.
- Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean driving record; certifications in forklift operation or heavy equipment operation are advantageous.
- Experience operating manual transmission vehicles and specialized equipment such as tanker trucks or heavy haul trailers is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules or route adjustments while maintaining safety standards at all times.
