Job description
We are currently searching for a dedicated Civil CAD Designer to support our water and wastewater and land development projects. An innovative thinker, the Civil CAD Designer will work with a creative, dynamic team of Engineers, Designers and Project Managers and will have a direct impact on the successful delivery of some of the key projects in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate should be familiar and possess a keen interest in civil engineering practices as well as the linear infrastructure (watermains, sewers, forcemains).
Responsibilities
- Civil design and drafting for plan and profiles, site plans, servicing and grading
- Drafting of chambers, internal pipes, valves and utilities
- Strict adherence to company and client drafting standards
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information on project documentation produced in accordance with QA/QC procedures
- Take direction from Engineers and Senior Designers
- Efficiently and effectively handle multiple tasks independently
- Coordination with other disciplines will be required on most projects.
- Provide mentorship in civil design and drafting to junior staff as required
- Assist in site inspections, measurements and reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field
- Thorough knowledge and work history with AutoCAD including Civil 3D.
- A solid foundation with civil engineering principles (i.e. hydraulics, statics).
- Ability to work with geomatic and survey data to create base files, ground profiles and site plans.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Skills Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads would be advantageous
