Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.
The Peace Wapiti Public School Division is seeking candidates who enjoy working in a student-focused and collaborative environment. We invite applications for a Temporary Full Time Mental Health Professional. (This position is effective August 31, 2026 to June 29, 2027).
With a focus on counseling/mental health and wellness, we are seeking an experienced social worker or equivalent to join our team at the District level. The position will involve delivering mental health therapeutic interventions to students who meet the criteria of the scope of school-based practice. Collaborating with the Inclusive Services Behaviour Support Team, the successful candidate will work in concert with other professionals to offer behaviour support services for students in grades 7-12.
Required:

A degree in Social Work (with Psychosocial Intervention Authorization) or equivalent in the field of Human Services Education (Bachelor level) and experience will be considered

Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (RSW) or the College of Alberta Psychologists

A valid Driver's License and competency in driving in remote areas

Experience with small group and individual counselling

Experience working with a school system is an asset

Competency in risk assessment, service implementation, collaboration and time management

Salary and Hours of Work:
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $60,244 to $77,453.30 annually or $43.03 to $55.32 per hour. This position is 35 hours per week, roughly following the school year calendar, for a total of 1,400 hours per school year. The annual salary is paid over 10 months (September to June) and will be prorated for part-time/part-year assignments.
