This role conducts independent, objective, and constructive assessments of the adequacy and effectiveness of management's processes to identify and mitigate significant risks across Metrolinx referred to here as the client in accordance with the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the internal audit profession's industry best practices, and the Internal Audit Charter. The position is responsible for leading the Audit Analytics function within the Audit Regulatory Compliance and Control (ARCC) department to organize, review, and present insights on available datasets within the internal audit framework. In addition, the role will support the establishment of repeatable analytical models and approaches for audit engagement in coordination with audit managers, work with other ARCC functions to further the use of data and analytics, and enhance the value of analytics deliverables and the insights provided by the work. This role will also work with existing client groups within the organization to leverage these audit analytics into control monitoring and improvements.
- Support the technical design and execution of data analytics to enhance audit scoping, testing, monitoring and reporting.

Apply automation, AI, and data analytics to enhance audit processes to improve efficiency, assess risks and controls, and provide better audit insights.

Present complex data findings in a clear and compelling manner using data visualization tools and dashboards.

Continuously develop and maintain scalable and reusable analytics that enhance fraud detection and control testing.

Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and potential control gaps.

Review source data for quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies, and work with audit teams and business leads to resolve gaps or limitations.

Support the documentation of analytics processes, logic, methodologies, assumptions, and data sources to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and auditability.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for querying, manipulating, validating, and analyzing data.

Experience and skill with preparing analyses, summaries, memos, and reports using computer applications including PowerBI, Databricks, or SAS.

Demonstrated progressive experience conducting internal audits or data analysis, or a comparable combination of progressive experience in internal and external risk management or audit (while obtaining relevant professional designation(s)).

Continuing Education in auditing, project management, technology and/or construction is required.

Relevant designations are expected with priority given to auditing designations.

Public sector experience required.
- Minimum 5 years of proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Python for querying, manipulating, validating, and analyzing data.

Minimum 5 years of experience and skill with preparing analyses, summaries, memos, and reports using computer applications including Power-BI, Databricks, and MS suite.

Minimum 5 years of experience analyzing large and complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and potential control gaps.
- Completion of a degree in Mathematics and Statistics, Business Administration, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related discipline with a specific specialization in both the technical requirements for data analysis and processing, as well as the training to present these results in a way useful to both business and technical leaders.
