We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support the pre‑construction and budgeting of high‑end custom residential projects in the Calgary market
Job Overview
This role is suited to a detail‑oriented professional with strong residential construction knowledge, exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of local trade pricing, and experience delivering accurate estimates for architecturally complex, luxury homes.
The Senior Estimator will play a critical role from early conceptual budgeting through detailed construction estimates, supporting cost certainty, value, and informed decision‑making across projects. Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom homes based on conceptual designs, schematic drawings, and full construction documents
- Develop comprehensive project budgets, including allowances, contingencies, and escalation where appropriate
- Perform accurate quantity take‑offs and cost analyses for materials, labour, and subcontracted work
- Manage the entire estimation process from initial concept through final bid submission, ensuring deadlines are met and costs are competitive.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project scope and identify potential risks or opportunities.
- Solicit, review, level, and analyze pricing from trades and suppliers to ensure scope completeness and cost accuracy
- Identify cost risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities for value optimization while maintaining design intent and quality
- Maintain and update cost databases reflecting current Calgary and area market conditions
- Assist with pricing of changes, revisions, and owner‑driven scope adjustments as required
- Support internal reviews and client presentations with clear, well‑structured cost documentation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key trades and suppliers
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 8 years of estimating experience in residential construction; direct experience in high‑end custom homes is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, materials, and detailing in luxury residential projects
- Demonstrated ability to estimate complex architectural designs and high‑end finishes
- Sound knowledge of Calgary and Alberta trade markets, suppliers, and construction costs
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to intended audiences
- Professional, solutions‑focused approach aligned with a high‑end client service environment
Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
