About Us
The Neighbourhood Group of Companies is an independent, B Corporation-certified restaurant group based in Guelph and Kitchener, Ontario. We operate five concepts — Borealis Grille & Bar (Guelph & Kitchener), Miijidaa Café + Bistro, The Wooly Pub, and Park Eatery — all built around the belief that restaurants can be a genuine force for good in their communities.
The Role
We're looking for a Chef de Partie for Borealis Guelph — someone who can execute at a high standard and lead the people around them. This is a supervisory role. You're not just cooking; you're setting the tone for your station, mentoring junior staff, and upholding the food culture that makes Borealis what it is.
What You'll Do
Own your station — prep, service, and clean-up — with consistency and pride
Supervise and guide junior cooks during service
Maintain quality and presentation standards on every plate that leaves your station
Build and maintain relationships with local farmers, producers, and suppliers
Contribute ideas for specials and menu items that reflect what's available locally
Mentor junior kitchen staff through example and direct coaching
Ensure strict food safety and HACCP standards at all times
Step into a leadership role in the absence of senior kitchen management
What You Bring
3+ years of professional kitchen experience in a full-service restaurant
Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment
Strong technical cooking skills across hot and cold preparation
A genuine passion for local food, seasonal cooking, and sustainable sourcing
Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
Red Seal certification or apprenticeship enrollment is an asset

Pay: $18.50-$20.00 per hour
