Seasonal Field Maintenance Attendant
Organization: Softball Calgary
Location: Centennial Ball Diamonds (Blackfoot Trail & Glenmore Trail SE, Calgary, AB)
Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week; Flexible working hours.
Term: Seasonal (through the remainder of the softball season)
About the Position
Softball Calgary is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the Centennial Ball Diamonds.
This position is ideal for a student or someone seeking flexible part-time outdoor work. The successful candidate will work independently to help ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and game-ready throughout the softball season. Daily maintenance typically requires approximately two hours of work and can generally be completed at any time between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., offering significant scheduling flexibility.
While previous field maintenance experience is considered an asset, we are primarily seeking someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, and can be trusted to complete daily maintenance tasks consistently and to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Rake and maintain infield playing surfaces
- Chalk and prepare field lines prior to games
- Empty garbage and recycling containers as required
- Open and secure the facility, including locking gates and storage areas
- Monitor maintenance supplies and communicate inventory needs
- Respond to field maintenance concerns as directed
- Assist with minor repairs and general facility upkeep
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional playing environment for participants
Schedule
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week
- Most shifts require approximately 2-3 hours of work
- Flexible scheduling between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Work can generally be completed at a time that fits your schedule
- Typically 5–6 days per week during the season
- Occasional Saturday evening work may be required
- Sunday work is generally not required
QualificationsRequired
- Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality playing surfaces
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Assets
- Experience maintaining sports fields or outdoor facilities
- Landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance experience
- Experience operating maintenance equipment
- Interest in Softball/Baseball
Equipment Used
Training will be provided on all equipment and procedures, including:
- Infield rakes
- Line chalking equipment
- Garden spades
- Basic hand tools and maintenance equipment
