Overview
Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation is recruiting a Maintenance and Operations Lead for the Hay River Fish Plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance and Operations Lead have day-to-day responsibility for facility and production maintenance in the Hay River processing plant. The Maintenance and Operations Lead assists in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to provide a safe, comfortable, and effective working environment for the maintenance department. The Maintenance and Operations Lead contribute to overall maintenance management as part of the Operations management team.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Operations
- Conduct daily shop safety inspections.
- Monitor and report equipment status to the Plant Manager.
- Identify facility deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Inspect machinery and equipment for irregularities and malfunctions.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts.
- Operate machine tools to fabricate parts for maintenance or setup.
- Ensure safety devices function properly after repairs and installations.
- Sharpen and maintain machine tools.
- Participate in the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for all equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance on machinery.
- Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area.
- Install, align, dismantle, and relocate industrial machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors).
- Troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.
- Assemble machinery and equipment using hand and power tools.
- Manage parts inventory and monitor stock levels.
- Assist in equipment procurement and building maintenance.
- Read and edit schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Create work orders and plan maintenance projects.
- Assist in preparing and managing the annual maintenance budget, identifying cost saving opportunities.
- Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Create and implement a preventative maintenance program.
- Ensure employee compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Manage documentation for permits and procedures (e.g., hot work, confined space, lockout/tagout, electrical work).
- Training & Development
- Collaborate with Health & Safety to develop Safe Work Procedures.
- Conduct meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Coach and support team members to achieve optimal performance.
- Develop training programs for equipment usage
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Power Engineer Class 4 or 5 certification is an asset.
- Experience with HACCP compliance and quality assurance.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and electronic tools/software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail oriented, energetic, and adaptable to change.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $90,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
