Job Overview:
Cottrill Heavy Equipment requires an experienced Machinist/Fabricator.
Applicants will be responsible for, but not limited to:
-operating in-house machine shop, completing both internal and external jobs
-completing machining jobs including, but not limited to, hydraulic valves, hoist and hydraulic cylinder rebuilding, pins and bushing machining, flywheel resurfacing, driveshaft shortening/lengthening
-designing/laying out and fabricating products working off in-house drawings for both CHE projects and walk-in customers
-welding and fabricating steel, aluminum and stainless steel on new equipment and to complete repairs to existing/used equipment
-completing truck chassis alterations including, but not limited to, shortening or lengthening and alterations to auxiliary axles, drive axles or steer axles, twin steer conversions
-installing new equipment and bodies on Class 1-8 vehicles such as (but not limited to): dump bodies, snowplows, flat decks, hook lifts, hydro vac unit, service bodies, including electrical systems (lighting), and plumbing hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Applicants must have/be:
-their own hand tools
-machinist experience - 429A an asset but not required
-fabrication and welding (steel and aluminum) experience
-able to operate a forklift and chain hoists
-a valid driver's licence
-customer service skills
-able to work independently or as part of a team
-responsible and self-motivated
-the physical ability required for heavy lifting and labour - at times 50lbs+
-organizational skills - complete paperwork in a timely, thorough and legible manner
-computer skills an asset
-able to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines while under the supervision of the shop foreman
