Sunset Electric Ltd. is a growing electrical contractor specializing in commercial, strata, multi-residential, and service work throughout Metro Vancouver. We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician whose primary focus is troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and service work on electrical systems up to 600V.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex electrical problems, working independently, and taking ownership of projects from diagnosis through to completion.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications
- $40.00 – $55.00 per hour
- Compensation is dependent upon experience and can be negotiated for the right candidate

The Opportunity
This role reports directly to the Owner and offers significant opportunities for advancement as the company continues to grow.
We are looking for someone who wants to become a key member of our team and is willing to take on increasing responsibility over time. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape service operations, mentor apprentices, assist with technical decision-making, and grow into a senior leadership role within the company.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues on systems up to 600V
- Troubleshoot power distribution, lighting systems, motor controls, and control circuits
- Commission, diagnose, and service VFDs and motor control equipment
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and control drawings
- Investigate intermittent faults and equipment failures
- Perform testing and diagnostics using industry-standard test equipment
- Complete clear and professional service reports
- Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and management
- Work independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety
- Mentor apprentices and provide technical guidance when required
- Complete small electrical projects including EV charger installations, power factor correction capacitor installations, lighting upgrades, and service upgrades
- Perform occasional residential service work and troubleshooting as required
Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Excellent understanding of electrical theory
- Proficient in reading single-line diagrams and electrical schematics
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Experience with:
- Commercial electrical systems
- Motor controls
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Lighting control systems
- Electrical maintenance and service work
- EV charger installations (preferred)
- Valid BC Driver's License with a clean driving record
