The Opportunity
The Assistant Financial Analyst helps prepare annual and periodic budgets for all stores and business units, monitors capital expenditures, and assists with audits. This role involves close collaboration with store managers, internal departments, and partners at Loblaw to review financial performance and deliver management reports.
You Will
- Prepare regular financial reports and analyze variances in sales, gross profit, and expenses against budgets and year-over-year metrics.
- Assist in building periodic financial performance decks and gather operational insights from business partners for management reviews.
- Conduct quarterly store expense reviews and weekly production center cost updates; maintain store forecasts in the EIS system to ensure alignment with the master budget.
- Support the annual budget cycle and 3-year strategic planning (including department, depreciation, and rent schedules); help draft business cases for store renovations.
- Assist with internal/external audit requirements and government data reporting (e.g., Statistics Canada); participate in annual store and warehouse inventory counts.
- Maintain financial report distribution lists and ensure secure, accurate document uploads to the sharing portal.
- Perform any other duties or projects assigned by the superior(s)
You Should Have / Be
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, enrollment in the CPA program (PEP Level 2–3).
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on accounting experience in relevant capacities.
- A results-driven self-starter who takes the initiative to learn, improve, and solve problems independently.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates high integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) is a strong asset.
Shift
5-day work week (Monday to Friday), 9:00am – 5:30pm (Actual working hours may vary slightly by department, depending on operational needs.)

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
