Our client, a well-established, successful, and advanced manufacturing facility in Eastern Ontario, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager. The role reports to the Operations Manager and is a fabulous career opportunity with an enviable organization.
This position plays a critical role in supporting production, leading plant engineering, capital projects, maintenance/reliability and continuous improvement initiatives in a safety and quality-first environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for planning and directing all aspects of engineering activities and initiate, organize and prioritize engineering projects and resources.
- Plan and manage the departmental budget.
- Oversee maintenance, electrical, mechanical, powerhouse, and wastewater treatment functions; with production resolve quality and technical challenges.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Manage a cross-functional multidisciplinary team, contractors and vendors.
- Lead, coach, and develop engineering, maintenance and utilities team.
- Ensure alignment between engineering and production goals.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA).
- Oversee the plant maintenance activities; champion preventative maintenance and equipment optimization programs.
- Maintain and operate plant as per Technical Safety and TSSA regulations.
- Promote/maintain the current collaborative team culture and high levels of employee involvement.
The IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and a P.Eng.
- 8+ years’ manufacturing leadership experience
- Experience using CMMS systems, utilities and WWTP an asset.
- Knowledge of a food processing plant and technology including spray dryer, powder handling and blending, filling and packaging systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Compensation: $110 - $130 + bonus
