Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a busy family-law practice. This is a substantive role suited to someone who is organized, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing files where details matter and deadlines are unforgiving.
You will work closely with counsel on litigation, motion practice, financial disclosure, and client file management.
About the Firm

- Preparing and organizing disclosure, exhibits, and trial/motion records
- Communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and service providers
- File management, document control, and version tracking
- Assisting with billing, retainer management, and administrative compliance
- Supporting counsel during active litigation and urgent matters
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience as a legal assistant (family law strongly preferred)
- Legal Assistant Diploma (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of court filing procedures (Ontario and/or Alberta experience an asset)
- Excellent written communication and document-formatting skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Professional judgment, discretion, and client-service orientation
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, litigation-focused environment
Technical Skills (Preferred)
- Microsoft Word (advanced formatting), Outlook, Adobe
- Court e-filing systems
- Practice-management or document-management software
- Experience with financial disclosure is a strong asset
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience
- In-office professional work environment
- Direct involvement in meaningful legal work (not a “front-desk” role)
- A professional environment that values competence, independence, and trust
