Position: Gateway Services Worker
Classification: Temporary Part Time
Location: Nelson, BC

The Gateway Services Worker identifies and provides intervention and support services to homeless individuals who are residents at Stepping Stones Emergency Shelter. They work one-on-one with the residents to seek and secure permanent housing and refer to external agency such as health services, mental health and addictions and other services that may be requested by the resident. This position requires union membership.
This is a benefited position upon successful completion of the probation or trial period.

Education/Training and Experience:
1. Post-secondary diploma in human services or related field, or the equivalent experience and education.
2. Minimum of 1 year experience working with marginalized populations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
3. Understanding and knowledge of working with vulnerable populations including those with disabilities, substance use issues, and mental health issues is highly recommended.
Specific Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in human services or related field, or the equivalent experience and education.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with marginalized populations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid Emergency First Aid/C.P.R.
- Current TB skin test
- Food Safe Certificate
- Required Criminal Record Check
- Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training Certification
- WHMIS Training
- Bullying and Harassment Training
Compensation: $27.54 (Grid level 11, Step 1)
Start Date : Mutually agreed upon by employee/union/management
Hours per Week : 32 hrs/week
Days and Hours of Work : Schedule A: Tuesday to Friday 7:30 AM-3:30 PM
Schedule B: Monday to Thursday 7:30-3:30
