Beds for Tails Kennels is the premiere kennel and day care facility in Ottawa, conveniently located on Bank Street South between Greely and Metcalfe. Although in operation for 20 years, the kennel is under new ownership as of October 2023. Since then, the facility has added many new features, including fenced play yards, a professional training facility, and a dock diving pool! Our number one focus is ensuring all our guests are cared for, safe, and get the exercise and engagement they deserve. Our team are dedicated to this and offer extensive knowledge and experience in kennel operations. We live by our motto of “Loving care when you’re not there.”
Responsibilities
- Daily care of dogs and cats including feeding, cleaning, playgroups, and monitoring behavior
- Managing reception for pet check-ins and check-outs and communicating with owners on their pets stay
- Providing friendly and professional customer service to clients
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kennels and common areas
- Monitoring animal health and reporting concerns to management
- Supporting team members with daily operations and animal care tasks
Requirements
- Previous customer service experience required
- Experience working with domestic pets required
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be physically capable of standing, lifting, cleaning, and walking dogs throughout shifts
- Willingness to exercise dogs in all types of weather during our four seasons
- Availability to work 30–38 hours per week
- Must have open availability, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays (7 days per week availability required). Kennel hours are 7am – 8pm daily.
Compensation
- $20–$22 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
