Guided by our core values, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has developed a central translation service team. The Language Services team supports culturally safe, quality care by improving patient/client access to health information and reducing language barriers. The team is responsible for translating health and clinical information and works in partnership with other language services teams including Virtual Health at VCH and the Provincial Language Services team at BC Health Shared Services.
As a Coordinator, Language Services with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

Provide centralized operational, coordination, and technical support for translation services across VCH.

Be responsible for coordination of translators and service providers, backend workflow execution, and systems management, while the Program Leader leads internal partner engagement, prioritization, and overall service oversight.

Manage the operational components of translation requests, ensuring that clinical and public-facing materials are processed, coordinated, and delivered in a timely, accurate, and culturally appropriate manner. The role functions as the primary coordination hub for translation workflows, supporting consistent and efficient service delivery across a high-volume, time-sensitive portfolio.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Linguistics, Translation or a relevant field.

Three to five years (3-5) of recent, related experience in project coordinator, operational coordination or language services coordination or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Relevant experience in the healthcare sector is an asset.
Knowledge & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects in a high-volume, time sensitive environment
- Strong proficiency with project management systems, databases, and computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. Ability to troubleshoot technical, system, and workflow issues in real time.

Proven ability to coordinate external vendors, including assignment of work, issue resolution, and relationship management.

Strong attention to detail with experience managing multi-step workflows, file handling, and quality coordination processes.

Ability to track, organize, and interpret operational data to support workflow management, invoicing verification and reporting.

Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.

Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with internal partners and external service providers.

Ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately in a timely manner.

Experience working with translation services, multilingual environments, or culturally responsive communications is an asset.

Experience working with and maintaining Translation Memory (TM) and Term Bases (TB) is an asset.
