Position Description:
- Reporting to the Manager of the center, the Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) is responsible for providing care for the physical and emotional needs of both the group and individual children
- Working as part of a team to manage the daily activities of the room in accordance with the facility, policies, procedures, and all relevant legislative and regulatory standards
Overseeing overall program planning, including:
- Observing and assessing the children
- Preparing and implementing a culturally sensitive weekly program plan to promote stimulation in all areas of development
- Communicating formally and informally with families, other staff, and the manager
- Keeping the manager informed of activities and/or concerns
- Performing administrative duties, such as maintaining children's records (emergency forms, illness and accident reports, daily attendance, and developmental summaries twice a year)
- Encouraging and developing positive and secure relationships with the children
- Being responsible for either opening or closing the center (conducting a safety check, completing all duties, etc.)
Shift rotation is a job requirement
Your experience and qualifications includes:
- Graduation from a diploma or degree program, in or related to early childhood education, that is approved be the College, this can include OCAAT.
- Registered with RECE in Good Standing
- At least one year of work experience with children and families, with student placements from an Early Childhood Education Diploma Program counting as an additional year of experience.
Position requirements:
- Registration with the College of ECE
- Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate
- VSC Employment - must be obtained with in last 6 months
- Full vaccination with a recognized COVID-19 vaccine
- Compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act in regards to immunizations and health assessments.
- A recent copy of a 2-step TB test within the 6 months
- All Immunization records - 2 steps TB Test1, MMR, Tetanus, Hep B, Varicella, DPT, Flu Shot - annually.
