Our client, a company supporting remote site services and camp logistics in Northern Ontario, is seeking an experienced HSSE Coordinator to join their team at a remote mine in Northern Ontario.
Working in a remote project environment on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation, the HSSE Coordinator will support site leadership and field crews in all areas related to health, safety, security, and environment. This role will be responsible for maintaining HSSE coverage, supporting incident and inquiry management, completing inspections and audits, and ensuring site activities remain compliant with applicable legislation, client standards, and internal safety processes.
Reporting into site services leadership, the successful candidate will work closely with supervisors, field personnel, subcontractors, management, and client representatives to promote safe work practices, maintain training and certification records, and support continuous improvement across the site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinate HSSE-related systems and processes.
· Audit subcontractors to ensure HSSE compliance.
· Review and assist in the creation of Job Hazard Analyses.
· Investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are documented and implemented.
· Promote behavioural-based safety programs, including job observation and stop-and-correct initiatives.
· Conduct audits to ensure compliance among supervisors and field personnel.
· Prepare inspection schedules for committee members.
· Attend weekly meetings and provide reports to management and clients, including statistics, concerns, and incidents.
· Conduct and document workplace inspections.
· Assist supervisors with problem-solving, worker concerns, and disciplinary actions.
· Attend project start-up meetings and coordinate site-specific health and safety requirements.
· Verify and maintain records of worker certifications and trade qualifications.
· Ensure training logs are kept up to date.
· Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
· Diploma, certificate, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is an asset.
· Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is preferred.
· National Construction Safety Officer certification is an asset.
· 2-4 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of Provincial OHSA regulations and other health and safety legislation.
· Strong communication and time management skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
· Valid G-Class driver’s licence.
· Ability to work a 14/14 rotational schedule at a remote site.
