POSITION SUMMARY
Continued growth in the business has created the need for a new position as Controller, operating from the Winnipeg location.
We are seeking a detail-oriented finance specialist who can strengthen accounting operations, support accurate reporting, and contribute practical insights to day-to-day financial management. The role offers the chance to work closely with internal teams while helping maintain strong financial controls, compliance, and reporting standards.
The ideal individual for this position will come equipped with the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to:
- Deliver accurate, data-driven reporting that enables leaders to run the business.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for reporting to lenders.
- Support core accounting functions such as accounts payable, budgeting, payroll, and financial review activities.
- Prepare and file monthly GST/HST returns, PST returns and Luxury Tax returns.
- Provide a mature, scalable financial function capable of supporting aggressive growth.
- Make suggestions for improving gross margins and provide management the information to progress toward long-term net margin targets.
- Predict and manage cash flow.
- Work with WHM and FBA’s accounting systems and demonstrate skills for reporting, analysis, and reconciliations.
Brief Summary of the Positions' Primary Responsibilities
- Produce monthly financial reports, record journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and investigate budget-to-actual variances.
- Oversee the accuracy of the general ledger and related subledgers while monitoring inventory records and cash flow forecasts.
- Contribute to annual planning cycles by assisting with budget development, year-end files, audit support, and ongoing financial analysis.
- Prepare financial submissions for government bodies, process grant-related claims, and help ensure remittances and reporting obligations are completed on time.
- Examine accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, verify approvals, and review payment runs for completeness and accuracy.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to finance team members through training, workflow coordination, and performance support.
- Partner with leaders across departments to deliver financial information that supports operational decision-making and program needs.
- Help maintain effective accounting procedures, internal controls, and compliance practices across finance operations.
Required Experience, Education and Qualifications
- Required: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a finance or accounting environment.
- Required: Degree in Commerce or Accounting.
- Required: Strong financial reporting and cash‑flow expertise.
- Preferred: CPA or MBA.
- Required: A Valid Class 5F driver's license.
- Required: Clear Criminal Record Check.
