This position is responsible for the delivery of Income Support (IS) and Career and Employment Information Services (CEIS) in the Edmonton and surrounding area of the North Zone. The Director works closely with Zone and Provincial Management teams as well as other Ministry Partners to ensure effective delivery and alignment with departmental goals.
The role provides strategic leadership to achieve business plan objectives, aligning service delivery with the Strategic Plan. It fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring staff understand and contribute to the department’s vision of accessible, integrated services for Albertans.
As part of the Zone Leadership Team, the Director contributes to planning, resource allocation, and service delivery improvements. The position involves representing the zone on committees, guiding area and worksite plans, and leading initiatives that enhance program effectiveness, labour market participation, and community engagement.
The Director is accountable for operational oversight, including program delivery, financial and human resource management, and stakeholder relations. The role ensures services are responsive, accessible, and aligned with community needs, while building strong partnerships across government, industry, and community organizations.
As the Director your key objectives will include:
- Contributes as a member of the Zone Leadership Team by supporting strategic planning, setting priorities, allocating resources, and improving service delivery systems across the region.
- Provides leadership at the zone, area, community, and worksite levels by fostering innovation, strengthening labour market connections, and representing departmental programs and priorities to stakeholders.
- Leads and develops high-performing teams by promoting a positive workplace culture, supporting employee development and succession planning, and ensuring effective communication across worksites.
- Oversees planning and delivery of Ministry programs, ensuring alignment with zonal and provincial priorities, equitable access to services, and responsive support to community needs.
- Ensures effective stewardship of financial, human, and operational resources, including budget management, performance monitoring, and maintaining safe, productive work environments.
- Builds and maintains strong partnerships with government, community organizations, and industry, while managing stakeholder relations and providing strategic advice on emerging issues and service delivery improvements.
