Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Landscape Crew Leader to oversee and coordinate landscape maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of horticulture, irrigation, gardening, and construction. This role involves supervising a team of landscape workers, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining safety standards across various outdoor projects. The Landscape Crew Leader will play a vital role in delivering exceptional landscape services to clients while fostering a positive team environment.
Duties
- Operation of Skid steer/ASV/Bobcat/riding lawn mower
- Operate a variety of light duty equipment (vehicles, water trucks, tractors, mowers, weed trimmers, backpack blowers, rototillers, hand tools, etc.
- Responsible for successful short-term (day-to-day) planning, efficient execution, and keeping operations managers aware of decisions being made.
- Mowing the grass, raking, mulching, pruning
- Seeding lawns and plants, trimming hedges and trees
- Applying pest control
- Fertilizing
- Planting flowers, trees and shrubs, and bushes
- Removing dead or damaged plants
- Watering gardens, lawns, and yards
- Overseeing the day-to-day work activities of a crew of 2 to 4 employees
- Report defective material and report those and any unusual situations to Operations Manager.
- Follow building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations, and other ordinances
- Able to perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning daily
- A willingness to learn, demonstrated initiative, ability to make decisions based on sound judgment
Qualifications
- 3-5 years supervisory experience as a landscape/lawn care lead role
- Possess a mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose/repair equipment issues
- Experience driving trucks and trailers (reversing and parking precision)
- Utilization of gas-powered landscaping equipment effectively and in a safe manner (zero turn mowers, line trimmers, chainsaws, pruners, etc)
- Having a safety-first mindset and minding the safety of yourself, co-workers, and the public
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the job including bending, lifting, utilizing hand tools, and working in various weather conditions
- The ability to complete tasks that are repetitive with heavy materials
- Strong attention to detail
- Organized, self-motivated, dependable
- Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 LBS (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
- Must have first-aid and CPR certification
- Valid G license with a clean driving record and own transportation
- Able to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing
