Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing engineering consulting team supporting clients across the energy sector. This role is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer with strong technical expertise and project execution skills who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordination for a variety of E/I/C focused projects (Capital Projects and O&M), including MCC upgrades, Electrical Building modifications / additions, power generation, control system upgrades, substations, and station expansions. You will work closely with clients, vendors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, practical engineering solutions from concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary liaison between the Project Manager, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support projects across natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, and related energy infrastructure

Lead coordination of electrical engineering scope, including planning, scheduling, and delivery of design packages to meet project objectives for quality, cost, and timeline

Develop, review, and approve electrical engineering deliverables (e.g., single line diagrams, MCC layouts, cable schedules, electrical layouts), ensuring compliance with client specifications, applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards

Support project planning and execution by contributing to scope definition, cost estimates, budgets, equipment sizing/selection, and technical evaluations

Coordinate closely with mechanical, civil, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure integrated and constructible design solutions

Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to interpret technical requirements, evaluate proposals, resolve design issues, and support procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment meet specifications and delivery schedules

Participate in design and safety reviews (e.g., HAZOP/PHA), ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements

Review and oversee the work of junior engineers, designers, and support staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of engineering outputs

Support construction and commissioning activities, including field inspections, troubleshooting, and site coordination as required

Recommend and implement improvements to engineering standards, design practices, and workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve maintainability

Prepare and review technical documentation and, where applicable, sign and stamp engineering deliverables in accordance with professional registration requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution

Minimum 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably within the energy sector (e.g., natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, or industrial facilities)

EIT or P.Eng. designation (EGBC) preferred or eligibility for registration; candidates actively pursuing licensure will be considered

Experience working in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) or consulting environment is strongly preferred

Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, motor control, and industrial electrical systems, along with applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, IEEE)

Experience in equipment specification and integration, including systems such as generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, drives (VFDs/ASDs), and related industrial equipment

Familiarity with process and facility systems (e.g., compression, gas processing, LNG systems) and exposure to multidisciplinary design environments is an asset

Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD (experience with power system analysis software such as ETAP or SKM is an asset)

Demonstrated ability to manage engineering deliverables, coordinate project activities, and support budgets and schedules

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions in a project environment

Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams and interface directly with clients and vendors

Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety (HSE), and continuous improvement

Field, construction, or commissioning experience is considered a strong asset

Willingness to travel to project sites as required

Compensation
The salary for this role is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The estimated range is between $110,000 - 125,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
