Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to foster a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, classroom experience, and a genuine love for working with children. This role involves developing age-appropriate educational activities, supporting children's social and emotional growth, and collaborating with families and staff to ensure a positive educational experience. Bilingual abilities in English and French, along with experience in special education or working with children with disabilities, are highly valued. Duties and ResponsibilitiesChild Development and Programming
- Plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate programs and activities that support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Develop play-based learning experiences including storytelling, arts and crafts, music, sensory activities, and outdoor play.
- Observe and assess children’s development, interests, and needs to support individualized learning.
- Prepare and maintain daily program plans and learning materials.
Child Supervision and Safety
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure health, safety, and well-being at all times.
- Guide children in developing positive behavior, self-regulation, and social skills.
- Respond appropriately to children’s needs, conflicts, or emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with child care regulations, health, and safety policies.
Communication and Family Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding children’s development, daily activities, and concerns.
- Build positive relationships with families and encourage family involvement in the program.
- Maintain confidential and accurate records of children’s progress.
Classroom and Environment Management
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Organize classroom materials, learning centres, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and follow sanitation and health guidelines.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other educators and staff to ensure consistent care and programming.
- Support and mentor Level 1 educators or assistants when required (especially Level 3).
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
Administrative Duties
- Complete required documentation, incident reports, and child observations.
- Assist with planning special activities, field trips, and seasonal programs.
- Follow centre policies and the Early Learning and Child Care standards in Alberta.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and best practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in special education is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
- Excellent organizational skills for managing classroom activities and documentation
- Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities in guiding young learners and supporting team collaboration
- Classroom experience that showcases effective time management and lesson delivery skills
- A genuine passion for early childhood development and fostering a supportive learning environment
Pay: $16.00-$25.00 per hour
