Haggerty Creek Ltd. is looking for a Lead Operator to join our Bothwell team. This is a key hands-on leadership role within the Operations Division. While this position does not have direct reports, the Lead Operator will help guide day-to-day work, support safe and efficient operating practices, coach team members on equipment and maintenance routines, and model the standards that help us deliver reliable service to local farms and farm families.
What you will be responsible for:
- Taking a lead-by-example role in daily operations, helping coordinate work priorities, sharing practical guidance, and supporting a positive, safety-focused team environment.
- Preparing, organizing, and supporting a full maintenance schedule for vehicles, rolling stock, off-road equipment, and stationary equipment.
- Upon completion of training, coaching team members on preventative maintenance procedures and best operating practices to maximize uptime and maintain a safe working environment.
- Performing basic maintenance on G, AZ, and DZ class vehicles, off-road equipment, and stationary equipment, and seasonally operating mobile and stationary equipment as required.
- Acting as a reliable resource for other operators by answering questions, escalating concerns appropriately, and helping new or less-experienced employees learn safe and effective work methods.
- Performing a variety of tasks to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Operating equipment safely and efficiently inside and/or outside the facility as required.
- Providing good housekeeping and accurate record keeping in and around the facility and within the assigned work area.
- Monitoring inventory and shrink levels, where applicable, and advising management of discrepancies as they occur.
- Ensuring all associated documentation is accurate and completed according to schedule.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Performing other tasks associated with the handling and/or manufacturing of feed, fertilizer, and grain handled by Haggerty.
- Understanding and following health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
What you bring to this role:
- Experience in agriculture, agri-business, equipment operation, maintenance, or a similar hands-on operational environment; an agricultural background is an asset.
- A practical leadership style with the confidence to guide, coach, and influence others without formal direct-report responsibility.
- A strong commitment to safety, reliability, customer service, and teamwork.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment issues, complete basic maintenance, and communicate concerns clearly.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors. Physical activity includes walking, climbing, loading/unloading trucks and/or wagons, inspecting equipment, and related operational tasks.
- Ability to work irregular hours during peak agricultural seasons, including weekends and holidays as required, with flexibility for vacation time during non-peak seasons.
- May have or be able to obtain various licences, permits, and/or certificates as required.
- Valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to candidates with an AZ or DZ license.

Haggerty Creek Ltd. was founded as a joint venture in April of 2001 by Chuck and Justin Baresich, with AGRIS Co-operative to better service the four counties area. Our farming background is strong and rooted in the community. We sell and recommend the same products we use on our own farms.
Our primary customer base is located between Alvinston, Rodney, Newbury and Rutherford. The four counties area comprises of Dawn-Euphemia Township, (Lambton County), Zone Township (Kent County), Mosa Township (Middlesex County), and Aldborough Township (Elgin County), extending into parts of Brooke, Enniskillen, and Orford Townships.
The market area primarily consists of a mixture of cash crop farms ranging from very small to very large. We also service specialty customers with vegetables, tobacco, nursery amongst other crops.
