Job Summary
Falcon Xpress Transportation Group Inc. is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our accounting team. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment.
The Accounting Assistant will support the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payment processing, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities
- Prepare, review, and process customer invoices accurately and on time
- Verify rates, supporting documents, accessorial charges, and other billing information prior to invoicing
- Assist with accounts receivable, including monitoring outstanding balances, following up on payments, and applying customer payments
- Assist with accounts payable, including reviewing invoices and preparing payments
- Enter and maintain accurate financial information in QuickBooks
- Perform bank, credit card, customer, and vendor account reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist with cheque deposits, EFTs, wire payments, and other payment-related documentation
- Assist with month-end accounting procedures and account reviews
- Prepare accounting reports and spreadsheets as required by management
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, drivers, and internal departments regarding invoices and account matters
- Ensure accounting information is complete, accurate, and properly documented
- Assist the accounting department with additional administrative and financial tasks as required
Skills
- Previous experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or similar financial role
- Experience with QuickBooks is strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through until they are resolved
- Comfortable working with numbers, invoices, statements, and financial records
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Previous experience in the transportation, trucking, or logistics industry is considered a strong asset
- Experience with transportation management or fleet management software is an asset
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work and understands that accuracy is critical in accounting. This is a hands-on position within a busy transportation operation and is well suited to someone who is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and interested in developing their accounting experience.
Pay: $18.00-$29.69 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
