Job Overview
Most general managers spend a career building someone else's equity. We are offering a different arrangement.
We are an established, privately held automotive dealership group seeking a driven, entrepreneurial Managing Partner / General Manager to take full profit-and-loss accountability for one of our stores — a dealership retailing 400 to 500 vehicles annually in a strong secondary market, with real room to grow. Run it like an owner, hit the numbers, and you will have a defined path to becoming one.
You will direct variable operations, fixed operations, and the business office with the authority to make the calls that drive the result. You will not be micromanaged. You will be given the authority, the inventory, and the budget to build something, and you will be measured on what you build. If you are ready to create your own destiny rather than wait for it, we want to speak with you.
Responsibilities
- Provide decisive leadership across all departments, ensuring alignment between sales, finance, service, parts, and administration
- Own the dealership's financial statement, delivering against the annual operating plan and monthly forecast
- Direct new and pre-owned vehicle sales, including pricing strategy, desking discipline, and closing performance
- Manage inventory acquisition, mix, aging, and turn to maintain healthy days' supply and minimize wholesale exposure
- Oversee Finance and Insurance performance, product penetration, and lender relationships within all applicable disclosure requirements
- Grow fixed operations revenue and improve service and parts absorption, effective labour rate, and technician productivity
- Control the expense structure, including personnel expense to gross, advertising spend per unit retailed, and floor plan interest
- Recruit, develop, and retain a strong management team and build genuine succession depth within the store
- Serve as the dealership's primary point of contact with the manufacturer, managing certification, training, facility, and program requirements
- Achieve or exceed manufacturer customer satisfaction and loyalty benchmarks
- Maintain full compliance with consumer protection, motor dealer licensing, advertising, privacy, and financial reporting obligations
- Represent the dealership credibly with customers, vendors, and the local community
Requirements
- Proven experience as a General Manager, General Sales Manager, or equivalent senior dealership leader with verifiable profit-and-loss accountability
- Complete command of dealership financial statements and the ability to diagnose store performance directly from the numbers
- Demonstrated record of growing volume and gross profit in a competitive market through sustainable process rather than short-term measures
- Strong capability across both variable and fixed operations
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and retain a high-performing management team
- Sound working knowledge of inventory management, F&I structure, and dealership expense control
- Exceptional communication skills, with credibility in front of staff, customers, and manufacturer representatives
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and process discipline
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with the initiative and accountability to treat the store as their own
- Valid driver's licence and eligibility to hold any licence or registration required of dealership management in the applicable jurisdiction
- Ability to satisfy our standard review requirements for management personnel, to the extent permitted by applicable law
Pay: $150,000.00-$400,000.00 per year
