Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Precision Machinist Tooling Specialist to join our advanced manufacturing team. Open to reviewing Graduated Students with a full SIN. The ideal candidate will possess experience in CNC machining, tooling, and precision measurement, contributing to the development and maintenance of high-quality tooling and components. This role offers an opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and participate in complex manufacturing processes, including plastics injection molding component production. Candidates should demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in Mastercam, CAD/CAM software, and the ability to interpret complex blueprints and GD&T specifications. A background in lean manufacturing principles and experience with CNC machines.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment with precision.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T specifications, and schematics to ensure accurate tooling fabrication.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other inspection tools to verify part dimensions within tight tolerances.
- Perform electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes for complex tooling components.
- Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, inspections, and adjustments for quality control purposes.
- Collaborate with design engineers using SolidWorks and CAD software for tooling design modifications or improvements.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and assembly techniques to complete tooling setups or repairs as needed.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste in tooling production.
Experience
- Proven experience as a CNC machinist or tooling specialist in a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in GD&T principles for precise measurement and quality assurance.
- Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), CNC lathe/milling machines, and associated automation equipment.
- Proficiency with Mastercam, CAD/CAM software including SolidWorks and general blueprint reading skills.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, CMMs, and other inspection tools.
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team while adhering to safety standards.
