Featuring the best in professional performances, Flato Markham Theatre has incorporated itself into the community; welcoming all. With almost 300 live performances each year, the Theatre is busier now than it has ever been. Theatre, concerts, comedy shows and family entertainment are just some of the regular programming that is offered each season.
Applications are now being accepted for the temporary part-time Usher position at the Flato Markham Theatre, in the Economic Growth, Culture and Entrepreneurship Department of the Development Services Commission. Hours of Work: This is a temporary part-time position that would require a minimum availability of up to three shifts per week. The majority of shifts occur in the evenings, weekends and holidays with the occasional shift during the day. We are looking for ushers with a flexible schedule who will be available to begin training September 2026.
Working Conditions: Primarily indoor, standing and or sitting for long periods of time, stairs to access upper-level seating, some lifting and bending required

JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Usher is to welcome, provide direction and assist patrons to their seats and to other locations within the Flato Markham Theatre, thereby contributing to a positive and efficient experience for Theatre patrons.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greets and assists patrons throughout the front of house

Provides information about the theatre, performances and venue for patrons
-
Guides patrons to seats and assists individuals when needed
-
Able to fill different roles: front door, house/orchestra doors, coat check, merchandise etc.

Various housekeeping duties
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
-
High School diploma preferred
-
Current certifications in Standard First Aid OR Intermediate First Aid with CPR C and AED
-
Smart Serve certified (if 18 years of age or older)
-
Able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
-
Good verbal communication skills
-
Sensitivity to diverse theatre patrons in a courteous and efficient manner.

Experience handling cash preferred

Vulnerable Sector Screening letters will be required
