Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Companion Care provider to support an elderly couple with dementia on weekends during the daytime. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, patient care, or home care settings and possess a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those they serve.
Duties
- Ensure safety, comfort, and well-being in the couple's apartment on an assisted living floor
- Assist with mobility support
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging in conversation and light recreational activities
- Support with meals, serving, feeding and clean-up
- Light housekeeping tasks
- Assist with memory lapses and confusion associated with dementia
- Monitor clients’ health status and report any concerns to on-site care workers and nurses
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospice care, or home care is helpful
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, and working with individuals with disabilities is preferred
- Patience
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and assisting with mobility and transferring between bed and wheelchair
- Certification in care giving or related training is advantageous
- Strong ability to speak English and ability to converse with seniors
Anticipated Hours
10:00am-6:00pm Saturdays
10:00am-4:00pm Sundays
May be offered choice to work some statutory holidays as well or substitute for an alternate care giver on their days off.
