Grandview Retirement Living is hiring within the retirement home industry and has an immediate opening for a Driver/Maintenance Assistant. The Driver/Maintenance Assistant will drive our residents to appointments and other outings in our community van. The Driver/Maintenance Assistant must have at least 3 years of employment experience in a job where they drove paying passengers, like a bus driver, a limousine driver, a patient transfer driver, etc.
Driver/Maintenance Assistant

Wage: Starting at $18.00 per hour

Responsibilities:
- Driving residents in the residence van to their destination
- Ensuring the residence van is clean and safe for use
- Carrying out regular and routine vehicle maintenance inspections
- Scheduling vehicle maintenance, as needed
- Assisting with general maintenance tasks within the residence when not driving, including painting and carpet cleaning
- Driving to pick up and deliver supplies from stores to support the operation of the retirement residence
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- Valid G-class provincial driver’s license; an F-class license is preferred but not required
- At least three (3) years of employment experience where you were driving and transporting passengers (this is a requirement for insurance purposes)
- Clean driver’s abstract and a letter of experience from a previous employer confirming you have been insured to drive a commercial vehicle. (this is a requirement for insurance purposes)
- Reference letter from previous employers’ insurance company to validate experience. (this is a requirement for insurance purposes)
- Ability to read, write, and accurately follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and staff in a professional and friendly manner
- Excellent time management skills
- Empathy and good judgement
