The City of Abbotsford’s Building Permits & Licences Department is seeking a self-motivated professional to join their team as a Building Inspector.
The Building Inspector is a technical and regulatory position which focuses on the inspections of various building types under the BC Building Code.
The incumbent will be required to conduct reviews of building construction to assess compliance with local bylaws and provincial construction regulations, including the BC Building Code. The incumbent works under minimal supervision and exercises independent judgement in technical aspects of the work. Discussing difficult challenges and policy matters with a supervisor or Manager. The work entails extensive contact, liaising and technical guidance to a variety of internal and external customers.
- Do you have one to four years experience working in building construction or design;
- Successful completion of the BOABC Level I, II, or III examination(s);
- Membership with the Building Officials’ Association of BC (BOABC) as a Qualified Building Official;
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $45.70 to $59.36.
