Logistics Coordinator
West Shefford Food Co. Inc. is a leading International Food Import/Export company located in Midtown Toronto. We are seeking a candidate to join our dynamic International Trading Department in the role of Logistics coordinator, assisting the accounting department for month end, and having an interest to be a trader later on. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and is driven to succeed. Salary range is from$45,000 to $50,000 annually.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Logistics Manager/ Assistant Manager, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of ocean freight and multi-modal shipments, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery. This role works with clients, vendors, carriers, and internal teams to support transportation needs, manage documentation, and resolve logistics issues. The scope of responsibility and level of independence will be calibrated to the individual's experience and progression.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, freight forwarders, and third parties to manage ocean and multi-modal shipment requirements
- Manage end-to-end shipment lifecycle including ocean, intermodal rail, trucking, and air freight as applicable
- Act as primary point of contact for assigned shipments, ensuring timely delivery and full supply chain visibility
- Source, negotiate, and secure transportation tenders, quotations, and freight rates across transportation modes
- Prepare and review all shipping and export/import documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Track and monitor shipment progress, proactively identifying and resolving risks (delays, customs holds, documentation gaps, port congestion)
- Manage inland logistics including drayage, transloading, warehousing, and final delivery coordination as needed
- Work closely with trading and sales teams to support deal execution and customer commitments
- Maintain accurate shipment records and updates in internal systems (ERP / tracking tools)
- Update invoice sheet on a monthly basis at month end, ensuring all shipment charges are accurately recorded
- Handle small freight claims including demurrage, detention, and other carrier disputes, ensuring timely submission and follow-through to resolution
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics processes, control costs, and increase efficiency

Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- 1+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, or supply chain coordination
- Interest in or experience with international business or commodity trading industry
- Proven experience with multimodal transportation (ocean, rail/intermodal, trucking, air) an asset
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and computerized logistics systems
- Working knowledge of export documentation and international shipping requirements
- Solid understanding of Incoterms, import/export documentation, and customs clearance processes
- Familiarity with cold chain logistics (reefer containers) an asset
- Experience with ERP or logistics platforms (e.g., Dynamics 365) an asset
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, carriers, and vendors
