Main Function
Provides senior-level Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) support to Project Leadership, EPC Contractors, and Business Lines. Leads implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems, regulatory compliance, risk management, incident prevention, and safety culture initiatives while serving as a technical resource and mentor to SSHE personnel.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Management
- Lead implementation and continuous improvement of project SSHE programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Support project teams and business lines in meeting safety objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching, training, awareness initiatives, and recognition programs.
- Mentor and develop junior SSHE personnel.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, permits, and industry best practices.
- Develop, review, and update safety standards, procedures, instructions, and documented practices.
- Participate in and facilitate risk assessments, PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, compliance reviews, and other safety studies.
- Review new project designs and facility modifications for safety compliance and risk reduction.
Field Safety Oversight
- Conduct inspections, audits, and assessments of construction projects, operating facilities, contractors, subcontractors, and support locations.
- Identify hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and alignment with project safety execution plans.
Incident Management & Emergency Response
- Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and reporting.
- Provide technical support during emergency response activities and participate in drills and preparedness programs.
- Communicate lessons learned and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor SSHE performance indicators and trends.
- Prepare and present safety reports, metrics, recommendations, and improvement plans to project and functional leadership.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive implementation of corrective actions.
Training & Communication
- Coordinate and deliver safety training, inductions, presentations, and awareness programs.
- Develop safety communications, educational materials, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across project teams.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support security and occupational health activities as required.
- Perform other SSHE duties as assigned by Project Leadership or Functional Management.
- Maintain the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in construction, industrial, or oil and gas safety leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and security processes.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and safety studies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, lead initiatives, and build effective working relationships in multicultural environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel and work at remote project locations as required.
- Physically capable of performing duties in active construction and industrial environments.
