Pye Chevrolet is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Controller to lead the dealership accounting department and support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the dealership’s accounting records, overseeing month-end processes and financial reporting, and supporting operational departments across the dealership.
The Controller works closely with the General Manager: Finance, dealership management, and the broader corporate finance team while leading the accounting function at the store level. The role is supported by dedicated accounts payable and accounts receivable staff.
We are seeking someone who can step into an established accounting environment and operate confidently with day-to-day ownership of dealership accounting processes.
The role is well-suited to someone who is organized, steady under pressure, and comfortable working in an active dealership environment where the accounting office supports multiple departments.
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the dealership accounting department
- Accounts receivable, cash management, and bank reconciliations
- Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet schedules
- Preparing and filing monthly remittances, including HST filings and payroll preparation through Payworks
- Overseeing month-end close and financial statement preparation
- General ledger maintenance, expense review, and financial analysis
- Supporting operational departments with accounting questions and issue resolution
- Maintaining accurate accounting schedules and supporting ongoing financial reporting
- Working closely with dealership management and the corporate finance team on reporting, controls, and operational processes
Accuracy, follow-through, and strong attention to detail are essential in this role.
This role is based in a dedicated office space within an active dealership environment. You will interact regularly with colleagues from sales, service, parts, and management, and interruptions and questions are part of the role.

- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Previous dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, schedules, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Ability to manage day-to-day accounting operations with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving ability
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills
- Experience leading or supporting accounting staff is an asset
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required for this role. This position involves frequent interaction with sales, service, parts, and management teams, so the ability to communicate clearly and confidently across departments is essential.
A CPA designation is not required for this role. We are primarily seeking a strong, experienced accounting professional with practical operational experience.
- Competitive compensation: $70,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience
- Full-time salaried role with an expected work week of approximately 40–45 hours, generally completed during regular business hours
- We do not require or expect our team members to take work home with them
- Three weeks paid time off in year one (prorated, inclusive of vacation and wellness days); increased to four weeks after 5 years of employment
