Our Design Centre is currently seeking an experienced, on-site Interior Designer to join our growing team.
Responsibilities
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to determine initial goals, spatial requirements, and design expectations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with architects, engineers, builders, and trades to ensure cohesive design execution and structural functionality.
- Space Planning & Design: Analyze movement patterns to draft preliminary sketches, and utilize advanced design applications (ACAD, Revit, SketchUp) to prepare final, illustrative plans.
- Material & Budget Management: Guide clients through material, furnishing, and décor selection; provide accurate cost estimates, timelines, and manage procurement within budget.
- Project Oversight: Supervise the installation of materials, furniture, and design elements on-site, ensuring strict adherence to blueprints, building codes, and inspection regulations.
- Project Delivery: Conduct final walkthroughs with clients upon project completion to ensure complete satisfaction and promptly resolve any deficiencies.
- Industry Trends: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends, innovative materials, and technical developments in interior design.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of related interior design experience (local development or construction industry experience preferred).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Modeling: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Rendering: Skilled in Enscape, Lumion or Twinmotion, and Photoshop.
- Core Competencies:
- Strong spatial awareness, structural intuition, and a refined sense of style.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication & Compliance:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken, read, and written) is preferred.
- Solid understanding of local building codes, Ontario Building Code (OBC), and related inspection regulations.
- Credentials: ARIDO membership or eligibility is highly preferred.
