MiAlert is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Technical Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide a professional, high-quality experience to our customers and business partners while diagnosing and resolving a variety of Tier 2 technical issues.
The position focuses on troubleshooting connectivity and network issues, hosted phone systems, routing, and related technologies. You will also monitor customer alerts and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations where timely communication and problem resolution are critical.
We welcome applications from recent graduates of a 2-year technical college diploma program, as well as candidates with previous technical support experience.
Position Details
- Full-time, Permanent
- On-site position
- $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
- Monday to Friday
- 8-hour shifts
- On-call and occasional weekend availability required
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve Tier 2 technical issues accurately and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot DSL/connectivity, routing, networking, and hosted phone system issues.
- Configure and troubleshoot PBX systems, including extensions, IVRs, voicemail, and phone templates.
- Perform customer callbacks and provide clear, professional communication throughout the resolution process.
- Create, update, and manage technical support tickets while adhering to service-level requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure repairs, escalations, and service requests are completed within established timelines.
- Monitor customer alerts and take appropriate action, including escalation when required.
- Manage customer expectations and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Assist with technical issues at customer/dealer locations when required.
- Perform light manual labour related to technical installations and service work.
Technical Qualifications
Candidates should have strong knowledge of several of the following:
- PBX and hosted phone systems
- VoIP
- Cisco IOS
- Routers and network troubleshooting
- IP routing
- Subnetting
- DSL and internet connectivity
- Email / Microsoft Exchange
- Network configuration and troubleshooting
Additional Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a technical support, help desk, call centre, or customer service environment is preferred.
- Recent graduates of a 2-year technical college diploma program are encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to confidently manage customer expectations.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling high-pressure situations.
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence required, as travel to customer/dealer sites may be necessary.
- Ability to perform light manual labour.
