Position Overview
The Tool & Die Maker will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving tooling used in high-volume automotive manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will support production by ensuring dies and tooling operate efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain progressive, transfer, and stamping dies.
- Support production teams by responding to tooling-related issues and minimizing downtime.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on tooling and dies.
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble tooling according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Conduct welding, grinding, polishing, fitting, and finishing operations as required.
- Assist with die modifications, engineering changes, and continuous improvement projects.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, tooling drawings, sketches, and technical documentation.
- Maintain maintenance records and tooling documentation.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Tool & Die Maker Certificate of Qualification (COQ).
- Apprentices in their final year of training may also be considered.
- Minimum 1–3 years of Tool & Die experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with automotive stamping operations, progressive dies, and transfer dies is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient with machining equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Welding, profile grinding, and tool steel repair experience is considered an asset.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.

Pay: $35.00-$43.00 per hour
