Renegade Mechanical Solutions Inc. is a Calgary-based hydraulic repair, machining, and industrial fabrication company specializing in hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, CNC machining, and custom industrial solutions for heavy-duty and commercial customers.
We are currently looking for an experienced machinist to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who wants to be a key part of a growing company where their skills, experience, and input will directly influence the direction of the shop. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes and mills
- Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes
- Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs at the machine
- Understand and apply CNC machining fundamentals including tooling, work offsets, feeds, speeds, and setup strategies
- Manufacture shafts, bushings, glands, flanges, wear components, pins, and custom-machined parts
- Hold tight tolerances and verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment
- Assist in developing machining processes, setups, and shop efficiencies
Manufacturing & Custom Work
- Support the company’s expansion into manufacturing and production machining
- Assist with prototype work, custom fabrication, and process improvement initiatives
- Participate in fixture design, tooling selection, and workflow improvements
- Work closely with management to improve shop capabilities and expand services
Hydraulic Cylinder & Mechanical Repair Support
- Machine and modify hydraulic cylinder components including rods, pistons, glands, and barrels
- Occasionally assist with tear-down, inspection, repair, and assembly of hydraulic cylinders and components
- Support pressure testing and troubleshooting of repaired components
- Work on a wide variety of industrial and heavy-duty equipment repairs
Fabrication & General Shop Support
- Read and interpret drawings, prints, and sketches
- Drill, bore, tap, fit, and prep fabricated components
- Assist with fitting, fabrication, and final assembly work when required
- Support water-jet cutting and secondary manufacturing operations
Quality & Safety
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Inspect completed work using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring tools
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Follow company safety and quality procedures
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Machinist certification or equivalent industry experience
- Experience operating manual mills and manual lathes (required)
- Understanding of CNC programming fundamentals and CNC machine setup (required)
- Ability to independently plan and execute machining jobs from start to finish
- Strong understanding of machining fundamentals including tooling, materials, tolerances, feeds, and speeds
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and prints
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Preferred / Asset Qualifications
- Experience with Haas CNC equipment
- Experience with conversational or CAM programming
- Waterjet experience
- Hydraulic cylinder repair experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience working in repair, custom manufacturing, or job-shop environments
