This position is designed to increase awareness of current STBBI, mental health, and addictions issues experienced by Indigenous people and to ensure individuals can access services relevant to their needs. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills including public speaking at workshops virtually and in-person.
The Candidate will be responsible for:
· Provision and Distribution of Safer Sex Supplies resources
· Development of safer sex supply access points and relevant support networks withing distinct service areas
· Planning and Organization of Workshops and testing events, content workshops, testing events, prevention education and resource distribution
· One-to-one engagements with priority populations including:
Prevention Education, Resource Distribution, Referrals to STBBI Testing and Treatment, Cultural Supports, Making Medical Appointments, Service Navigation, Travel Arrangements, and Ongoing Care and Support
· Documentation and data collection for reporting purposes
· Working in congruence the Community Health Nurse, Project Manager, Administrative Coordinator, Elders and Executive Director
Qualifications:
· Community Health Representative Certificate or related Community Health work experience
· Community Health Promotion Certificate or Diploma
· Bachelor’s degree in human services, Public Health, Addictions, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience working with Indigenous Peoples in Canada
· Understanding of Indigenous cultural connections, land-based teachings and experience working with People with lived experience, Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers
· Demonstrated experience related to Indigenous Networking and Communication
· Extensive knowledge of issues affecting Indigenous Peoples in Canada and local services available to meet needs related to health, income, housing, and addictions for specific populations
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams), Zoom, Social Media Platforms, and Databases
· Must be able to travel with reliable vehicle, valid Alberta Driver’s License, insurance coverage confirmation
· Ability to speak Cree, Blackfoot and Dene would be an asset
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
